Garissa County has taken a major step in strengthening agricultural support services with the donation of motorbikes to the Garissa Farmers Network.

Governor Nathif Jama officially handed over the motorcycles at the County Headquarters, fulfilling a promise he had earlier made to bolster the Network’s mobility and efficiency.

The handover ceremony was attended by County Secretary Mohamud Mursal, alongside the leadership of the Farmers Network led by Chairman Abdullahi Abdi and Secretary Ebla.

The beneficiaries, who serve as extension officers within the Network, are expected to use the motorbikes to reach farmers more efficiently, providing timely advice and technical support across crop and livestock production.

Governor Jama lauded the dedication of the officers, noting that their work has been instrumental in uplifting the farming community.

He emphasized that improved mobility will allow them to expand their reach, ensure farmers receive consistent guidance, and ultimately contribute to greater food security in Garissa.

“The Farmers Network has shown great commitment to supporting agriculture and livestock development. By equipping them with these motorbikes, we are ensuring that their impact is felt more widely across the county. This is part of our broader commitment to empower farmers and grow the local economy,” Governor Jama said.

The governor further commended the Farmers Network for the progress made in strengthening agricultural practices and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting community-driven initiatives.

He stressed that agriculture remains central to Garissa’s growth and pledged continued partnership with farmers to ensure both resilience and prosperity in the sector.

The initiative is expected to not only improve extension services but also foster stronger collaboration between farmers and the county government in advancing food security and rural development.
