Marigat town, recently elevated to municipality status, is set to benefit from major infrastructure upgrades as preparations get underway for roadworks along a key section of the Nakuru–Marigat–Chemolingot–Marich Pass Highway.
Strategically positioned as a vital link between Nakuru and the northern corridor, Marigat has seen rapid growth in business activity and infrastructure development since its elevation.
The upcoming road improvement project is expected to further boost trade, connectivity, and service delivery for residents and travellers.
On August 4, a multisectoral team conducted a joint survey of the highway section within Marigat Town to assess the scope of works ahead of introducing the contractor to the site.
The exercise was led by officials from the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) in collaboration with key county leaders.
Among those present were County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Devolution, Hon. Penina Bartuin, CECM for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Arch. Reuben Rutto, Baringo South Sub-county Administrator, Mr. Obeta Sirma, Marigat Ward MCA, Hon. Nixon Lemlem, as well as Ward Administrators from Marigat and Mukutani.
The project, once underway, is expected to ease traffic flow, improve road safety, and enhance the movement of goods and services across the region.
County officials have welcomed the development as a timely investment that will match Marigat’s growing status and unlock its full economic potential.
