A team from the Operation Maliza Uhalifu (OMU) Female Engagement Team, working in collaboration with the Sauti ya Dada Community-Based Organization, visited Cana Girls Rescue Home in Tiaty Constituency on a humanitarian outreach mission aimed at promoting mental wellness, empowerment, and dignity among vulnerable girls.
Representing the Commander of Operation Maliza Uhalifu, Brigadier Kiraguri, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officers led a compassionate intervention targeting girls who have survived forced child marriage, female genital mutilation, sexual violence, and other forms of abuse.
The visit reflected OMU’s commitment to safeguarding children and creating safe spaces where they can recover and thrive free from fear and harm.
During the mission, KDF personnel conducted one-on-one counselling sessions to support mental health and psychosocial recovery.
They also shared meals, refreshments, and engaged in team-building exercises that fostered joy, bonding, and a sense of normalcy for the girls.
The effort aimed not only to address trauma but to restore hope and resilience in the lives of the young survivors.
In addition to the emotional support provided, the team donated food supplies and sanitary pads, contributing to the girls’ dignity and reinforcing the importance of menstrual hygiene management.
This outreach is part of a broader humanitarian-based initiative by OMU to support communities affected by insecurity and gender-based violence, reinforcing the values of care, protection, and empowerment.
