The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) Kenya Programme has celebrated the graduation of 21 community champions who have completed a rigorous entrepreneurship training program grounded in International Labour Organization (ILO)-accredited tools.
The training, conducted under the SDACKED Project and funded by the Embassy of Sweden, focused on empowering participants with critical skills needed to foster business growth and drive community development.
Danish Refugee Council (DRC) Kenya Programme explained that the champions were equipped with tools, including the Business Model Canvas, Gender and Entrepreneurship Together (GET Ahead), and the Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) methodology.
As a result of the program, the graduates are now well-versed in essential business competencies such as business modelling, gender-responsive entrepreneurship, financial literacy, customer care, marketing, stock control, record keeping, and productivity management.
According to DRC Kenya, these newly trained champions are not only ready to grow their enterprises but are also prepared to become agents of change in their communities by serving as trainers and mentors.
Their mission is to uplift others through knowledge sharing and inclusive support, building a foundation for resilient and self-sufficient local economies.
This milestone underscores DRC’s continued commitment to sustainable development and economic inclusion among vulnerable populations in Kenya.
Through this initiative, the organization affirms that strong communities begin with empowered individuals equipped to lead, teach, and transform.
