The County Gender Sector Working Group (SWG), comprising both state and non-state actors, convened its second quarter meeting at New Season Hotel in Maralal, with support from World Vision Kenya.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders to strengthen coordination, harmonise approaches, and advance gender equality and inclusion efforts at the county level.
During the meeting, members of the Gender Sector Working Group outlined plans for the upcoming 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV), a global campaign aimed at raising awareness and mobilising action to end all forms of violence against women and girls.

The stakeholders emphasised the need for community-led initiatives and cross-sectoral collaboration to create safe and supportive environments for survivors.
A key highlight of the discussions was the development of a County Plan of Action on Male Engagement, aimed at involving men and boys as allies in the fight against gender inequality and GBV.
The plan seeks to promote positive masculinity, challenge harmful gender norms, and encourage men to take active roles in preventing violence and supporting women’s empowerment.
The forum also reviewed progress made under the First Lady’s Triple Threat Project, which addresses the intersecting challenges of HIV infections, teenage pregnancies, and gender-based violence.
Stakeholders shared updates on ongoing initiatives targeting adolescents and youth, emphasising the importance of comprehensive sexual and reproductive health education and community sensitisation.
World Vision Kenya representatives reaffirmed their commitment to supporting county-led efforts to advance gender equality and social inclusion, noting that collaboration among government departments, civil society, and community organisations is vital for lasting impact.
The County Gender Sector Working Group resolved to continue strengthening coordination mechanisms and ensure that gender and inclusion priorities are integrated across all county development programs.
