A one-day peace dialogue held in Wargadud has brought renewed hope for lasting harmony between communities in Lafey and Mandera South sub-counties.
Facilitated under the ELEVATE Project by RACIDA, with support from IOM - UN Migration and KOICA, the session brought together key representatives from the Gare and Murule communities to reinforce their shared commitment to peaceful coexistence.
The meeting, held as a follow-up to an earlier dialogue on July 31, 2025, served as a vital platform for both sides to revisit discussions, address outstanding concerns, and resolve past grievances.
RACIDA said the participants engaged in open and constructive dialogue, promoting mutual understanding and trust.
The session concluded with both communities pledging to work collaboratively towards a more peaceful and united future.
Leaders and participants expressed optimism about the road ahead and emphasised the importance of maintaining open communication and community-driven efforts.
This initiative reflects the broader goals of the ELEVATE Project, which seeks to strengthen peacebuilding, enhance community resilience, and promote social cohesion through inclusive and sustained dialogue.
By empowering local communities to lead peace processes, the project continues to foster unity and build a stronger foundation for long-term stability in Mandera County.
