Nairobi hosted the successful launch of A Child of Two Worlds: From the Camel Camp to the Carolinas, a memoir by Umuro Sora Adano, also known as USA, in an event marked by inspiration, reflection, and a strong sense of community.

The well-attended ceremony brought together a diverse audience that included the author’s former students, teachers, friends, family members, and other distinguished guests, all united in celebrating a story that bridges cultures, continents, and generations.

The vibrant atmosphere was filled with engaging conversations, shared memories, and thoughtful reflections on the personal journey captured in the book.

The memoir traces Adano’s remarkable life path, from his early years in a camel camp to his experiences abroad, offering readers an intimate account of identity, resilience, education, and transformation.

Attendees noted that the narrative resonates widely, particularly with young people navigating questions of belonging, opportunity, and purpose in an increasingly interconnected world.

Guest speaker Richard Arden, a seasoned education and development specialist with over 50 years of experience, including 22 years as an adviser with the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) and later the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), praised the memoir for its depth and relevance.

Arden highlighted the power of storytelling in shaping understanding across cultures and generations.

The discussion was moderated by Prof. Joseph D. Galgalo, PhD, former Vice Chancellor and Associate Professor of Theology at St. Paul’s University, who holds a doctorate in theology from Cambridge University.

Prof. Galgalo guided an engaging conversation that explored themes of faith, education, mentorship, and the enduring impact of lived experience.

The strong turnout and active participation underscored both the significance of A Child of Two Worlds and the respect Adano commands across different circles.

Beyond celebrating a new literary work, the Nairobi launch stood as a testament to the relationships, mentorship, and shared experiences that have shaped the author’s journey.
