The County Government of Garissa today hosted a high-level delegation from the National Bank of Kenya (NBK), led by Managing Director George Odhiambo, in a move aimed at deepening financial partnerships and modernising service delivery.
The discussions focused on three key areas: revenue automation, the expansion of Shariah-compliant Islamic banking products, and corporate social responsibility programs tailored to the unique needs of Garissa residents.

Chief of Staff Abdullahi Gedi, who chaired the meeting, underscored the value of the collaboration.
“Strong financial partnerships like this help us improve service delivery, grow our revenue base, and ensure residents benefit directly from modern and inclusive banking solutions,” he said.
NBK Managing Director George Odhiambo reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting the county’s development agenda.
“Garissa is a key partner for us, and we are proud to walk this journey together to deliver innovative financial services that empower communities,” he noted.

The meeting was attended by CEC for Lands & Urban Development Mohammed Hussein, CEC for ECD, ICT & Vocational Training Ebla Minhaj, County Head of Treasury Abdi Ali, NBK Garissa Branch Manager Adan Haji, Chief Officers, and other senior county officials.
The strengthened partnership is expected to enhance financial inclusion, improve revenue collection efficiency, and expand access to Shariah-compliant banking solutions, thereby paving the way for sustainable growth and greater opportunities for residents across Garissa County.
