Tana River Governor Maj. (Rtd) Prof. Dhadho Gaddae Godhana has urged the National Government to refocus its attention on Tana River County to accelerate development and end decades of marginalisation.
Speaking during a thanksgiving ceremony at Oda in Tana Delta Sub-County for Dr. Amani Yuda Komora, who was recently appointed Chairman of the National Police Service Commission, Governor Godhana said Tana River has lagged in infrastructure and economic growth since independence.

“For many years, the Tana River has been sidelined in national development. I appeal to you, Bwana Principal Cabinet Secretary, that the National Government redirect its focus on the Tana River. For tarmac roads, for electricity, for airports, we expect the National Government to do something,” Governor Godhana said, addressing Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who was the chief guest at the event.
The governor decried selective development by previous regimes, saying it had left certain regions, including Tana River, underdeveloped compared to other parts of the country.
He called for equitable distribution of national resources to ensure every Kenyan enjoys the fruits of devolution and national growth.
The event was also attended by Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport Onesmus Kipchumba Murkomen, principal secretaries, senators, women representatives, and Members of Parliament, who joined leaders and residents in celebrating Dr. Komora’s appointment.
