The Hanaano Programme has marked a major milestone with the graduation of 25 Mother-to-Mother Support Groups (MtMSGs), celebrating strengthened maternal and child nutrition practices and improved financial resilience among participating mothers.

Under the initiative, mothers completed training in Maternal, Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) as well as sessions under the Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA) model.

The dual approach has equipped women with essential knowledge on healthy feeding practices while also boosting their ability to save, invest, and support their households financially.

In a message of appreciation, the mothers expressed the impact of the programme in their own words:

“Your support has empowered our choices and given us knowledge we carry with pride.”

One of the programme’s core lessons, highlighted repeatedly by the groups, is the importance of shared responsibility at home.

Mothers noted that families flourish when men and women support each other equally, a reminder that gender inclusion is central to community health and development.

Implemented by RACIDA in partnership with Concern Worldwide and supported by Irish Aid, the Hanaano Programme continues to strengthen community-led nutrition efforts across the Mandera Triangle.

The programme contributes to the global goal of preventing wasting and ensuring a healthier future for mothers, infants, and young children in vulnerable communities.
