The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a weather advisory warning residents in parts of northern and coastal Kenya to prepare for strong winds and enhanced rainfall expected over the coming days.
According to the department, strong southerly to southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots (12.5 meters per second) are expected to affect parts of Turkana, Tana River, and Marsabit counties.

The agency cautioned that the winds could disrupt transport activities, damage weak structures, and pose risks to both livestock and communities in exposed areas.
Residents living in arid and semi-arid regions have been advised to secure temporary shelters, remain alert, and follow safety guidance issued by local authorities and disaster response agencies.
The weather department also forecast rainfall in several parts of the country, with enhanced intensity expected over the Highlands West and East of the Rift Valley.
Areas likely to experience heavier rainfall include regions around the Central Highlands, parts of the Rift Valley, and neighbouring counties.
Meteorologists warned that intense rainfall could lead to localised flooding in low-lying areas, poor road visibility, and disruptions to farming and transport.
Motorists and residents in flood-prone zones have been urged to exercise caution, especially during periods of heavy downpour.
The advisory comes as Kenya continues to experience changing weather patterns linked to seasonal climatic conditions affecting different parts of the country.
Emergency response teams and county governments in affected regions are expected to remain on high alert for any weather-related incidents.
The Kenya Meteorological Department regularly issues weather forecasts and advisories aimed at helping communities, farmers, transport operators, and emergency agencies prepare for extreme weather conditions and minimise potential risks.
