The County Government of Marsabit, through the Department of Water Services, has reaffirmed its commitment to improving access to clean water and sanitation across the county following a joint planning and collaboration meeting with World Vision Kenya (WVK).
The meeting, held at the County Executive Committee (CEC) Member’s office and chaired by CECM for Water Services, Hon. Grace Galmo Boru, brought together key stakeholders to strengthen coordination and alignment of interventions within the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector.
The session was attended by representatives from WVK’s Marsabit North and Marsabit South clusters, alongside Chief Officer for Water Services Mr. Boru Dulacha and Director of Water Services Mr. Umuro Sharamo.
Discussions centred on reviewing ongoing and planned WASH initiatives, identifying areas for collaboration, and developing a unified action plan to enhance service delivery.
The engagement emphasised the importance of structured coordination, shared priorities, and harmonised implementation approaches to ensure that every community in Marsabit has access to safe and reliable water sources, improved sanitation, and hygienic environments.
Speaking during the meeting, Hon. Boru highlighted that partnerships such as the one with World Vision Kenya are vital in bridging service gaps and promoting sustainable water management practices.
He noted that the department remains committed to fostering collaboration that enhances efficiency and maximises the impact of development initiatives.
The joint platform also reaffirmed both parties’ dedication to promoting inclusive and sustainable development in Marsabit, particularly in remote areas where access to safe water remains a challenge.
Through this renewed partnership, the Department of Water Services and World Vision Kenya aim to accelerate progress toward achieving universal access to water and sanitation.
