Pupils from the Muslim Primary School left education stakeholders in awe with their impressive grasp of visual programming and spreadsheet applications during a Blended Learning Approaches Workshop held in Moyale.
The workshop, jointly organised by the Frontier Counties Development Council (FCDC) and UNICEF, brought together representatives from the Ministry of Education (MOE), Teachers Service Commission (TSC), and the ICT Authority to explore ways of enhancing digital learning in Kenya’s frontier counties.
The event came a day after 50 key stakeholders, including government officials, women, youth, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and religious leaders, participated in a sensitisation session on Community Digital Hubs, part of an ongoing effort to strengthen youth digital skills and improve education outcomes through technology.

UNICEF’s Chief of the Garissa Regional Office, Mr. Mohamed Abdullahi, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to building inclusive, future-ready education systems.
He emphasised ongoing initiatives to connect schools to the internet, train teachers in digital skills, and promote innovative classroom learning through ICT integration.
Participants at the workshop explored a range of transformative tools and initiatives, including the MOE Virtual Labs, Raspberry Pi Foundation (RPF) digital learning programmes, and the Last Mile Connectivity Solutions (LMCS) project, each designed to expand access to digital education resources in underserved regions.
In her closing remarks, Ms Safina Aga, the Sub-County Director of Education, commended the LMCS initiative and thanked partners for their unwavering support.
She pledged to work closely with the ICT Authority to ensure the technical maintenance of digital devices in schools.
With the enthusiasm displayed by students like those from Muslim Primary School and the collaboration among education stakeholders, Moyale’s digital learning transformation is gaining remarkable momentum, paving the way for a more inclusive and technologically empowered generation across Kenya’s frontier counties.
