West Pokot County is marking a transformative moment in its healthcare journey with two significant developments set to enhance access, efficiency, and the quality of services for its residents.

Governor Simon Kachapin announced the fast-tracking of the county’s first-ever 128-slice CT scanner installation, a cutting-edge diagnostic machine designed to provide faster, high-resolution imaging at lower doses.

“Thrilled to announce a major milestone in our commitment to world-class healthcare! Today, I, alongside CECM Health, hosted Yussuf Daud, Project Manager from Sunview Medipro and Raymond Bai, Sales Manager from Anke, to fast-track the installation of our hospital’s first-ever 128-slice CT scanner—a cutting-edge machine packed with advanced features for faster, more precise diagnostics,” he said.

The machine is expected to be fully operational in two weeks. According to the Governor, this investment fulfills a key manifesto pledge to deliver affordable and quality healthcare to the people of West Pokot.

“This state-of-the-art equipment, delivering high-resolution imaging at low doses, will be fully operational in just 2 weeks, revolutionising patient care right here in our community. It’s a key promise from my manifesto coming to life, of affordable and quality healthcare for all,” Kachapin added.

In a further boost to the county’s health sector, the Governor signed into law the West Pokot County Facilities Improvement Fund Bill, 2025.

The new law provides a framework for the establishment, governance, and administration of a County Facilities Improvement Fund.

It is designed to institutionalise an efficient, transparent, and accountable system for collecting, retaining, managing, and utilising funds generated from public health facilities across the county.

Together, the introduction of advanced medical technology and a robust financial governance framework marks a turning point for West Pokot.

These strides are expected to enhance patient care, improve resource management, and move the county closer to a world-class healthcare system that delivers both innovation and accountability.
