The government has reaffirmed its commitment to unlocking the potential of Northern Kenya through transformative development projects, with the ongoing Isiolo Township Affordable Housing Project standing out as a flagship example of progress and opportunity.

According to Interior Principal Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo, the government remains steadfast in its mission to secure and open up the region, ensuring that once-marginalised counties like Isiolo evolve into vibrant, investment-ready hubs.

“The Isiolo Township Affordable Housing Project is an example of this vision, transforming the town's skyline and improving the quality of life for local residents,” said Dr. Omollo.

The project, a cornerstone of the government’s Affordable Housing Programme, features eight residential blocks comprising 300 modern housing units.

These include 60 studio apartments, 20 one-bedroom units, 160 two-bedroom apartments spread across four blocks, and 40 spacious three-bedroom units.

Construction work has made remarkable progress, with tiling, plastering, and window and door fittings currently underway.

Once complete, the modern apartments will provide decent and affordable housing options for Isiolo residents, reflecting the government’s broader agenda to enhance urban infrastructure and uplift living standards.

Beyond its physical transformation of the town, the project is also revitalising Isiolo’s local economy.

It has created on-site job opportunities for skilled and unskilled workers, while also generating business for suppliers, artisans, traders, and vendors.

“This project is not just about new buildings, it’s about building lives and livelihoods,” Dr. Omollo noted.

“Better housing and infrastructure go hand in hand with economic empowerment and regional security.”
