Wajir High School has taken a major step towards strengthening its learning infrastructure following the official launch of a KSh35 million education project supported by the Safaricom Foundation.

The initiative entails the construction of a modern learning resource centre alongside the rehabilitation of the school’s old library.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held this morning at the school, was presided over by site engineers, the school principal, and representatives from the Safaricom Foundation.

The event marked the formal commencement of what has been described as a flagship project aimed at enhancing access to quality learning facilities for students.

The project is part of the commitments made during the Wajir High School Alumni Association’s 60th Anniversary celebrations.

With construction now underway, the pledges made by alumni and partners are translating into tangible development outcomes that will directly benefit current and future students.

Once completed, the modern resource centre is expected to provide an improved learning environment, support academic excellence, and promote digital and research-based learning.

The rehabilitation of the old library will also restore an important academic facility, ensuring it meets contemporary learning standards.

The Wajir High School Alumni Association expressed its appreciation to the Safaricom Foundation for its generous support and partnership, noting that the investment will have a lasting impact on the institution's education.

The project highlights the increasing importance of public–private partnerships in enhancing education infrastructure and expanding learning opportunities, particularly in underserved areas.
