Tension was high along the Kenya–Ethiopia border on Saturday evening after armed Ethiopian forces reportedly crossed into Kenyan territory, prompting a swift response from Kenyan security agencies.

According to an official police report filed at Moyale Police Station under OB No. 32/22/11/2025, the incident occurred at around 7:00 p.m. when Ethiopian forces advanced from the Sesii area, approximately 2 km from the station, and crossed nearly 1 km into Kenya while firing.

Kenyan security officers from Moyale Police Station, supported by the Administration Police Service (APS) and the Border Patrol Unit (BPU), quickly intervened.

The officers engaged the advancing forces and successfully pushed them back to the international borderline.

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) were also deployed to reinforce the operation, helping contain the situation, which lasted approximately two hours.

Several rounds of ammunition of different calibres were exchanged during the confrontation.

No injuries were reported among Kenyan officers, the report states.

However, unconfirmed information suggests that one person may have been fatally shot on the Ethiopian side earlier along the borderline, an incident believed to have triggered the cross-border incursion.

Kenyan authorities say they are monitoring the situation closely, and a detailed progress report is expected to follow as investigations continue.
