Over 3,000 residents of Kacheliba are set to benefit from a transformative medical camp organized by the M-Pesa Foundation in partnership with multiple organizations, bringing critical healthcare services to one of West Pokot County’s underserved communities.
The initiative, launched this month reflects a shared commitment to addressing immediate health needs and advancing long-term healthcare equity in the region.
West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin welcomed the M-Pesa Foundation team, led by Mr. Mutembei, to his residence for a courtesy call prior to the camp’s launch.
During the meeting, the team briefed the governor on the details of the medical outreach, which is expected to provide essential healthcare services to thousands of residents in Kacheliba.
“This noble effort is being delivered in partnership with Zuri Health, Lions, Site Fast, High Hospital, and the Kenya Institute of Special Education,” Governor Kachapin noted.
The medical camp aims to bridge gaps in healthcare access by offering free medical consultations, treatments, and specialized services to residents who often face barriers to quality care.
The involvement of diverse partners ensures a comprehensive approach, addressing general health concerns as well as specialized needs, such as those identified by the Kenya Institute of Special Education.
Mutembei, leading the M-Pesa Foundation team, reaffirmed their commitment to underserved communities.
Governor Kachapin expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing its alignment with the county’s broader vision.
“I value this partnership, which not only addresses immediate health needs but also contributes to our broader vision of improving healthcare access and equity across West Pokot County,” he said.
The governor underscored the importance of such initiatives in tackling systemic challenges, particularly in remote areas like Kacheliba, where healthcare infrastructure remains limited.
The medical camp marks a significant step toward enhancing healthcare delivery in West Pokot, a county where geographic and economic barriers often hinder access to medical services.
By bringing together a coalition of organizations, the M-Pesa Foundation is not only providing immediate relief but also setting a precedent for sustainable, community-driven healthcare solutions.
As the camp unfolds, residents of Kacheliba are expected to receive critical interventions, from basic health check-ups to specialized care, fostering a healthier and more resilient community.
Governor Kachapin and the M-Pesa Foundation expressed optimism that this initiative will inspire further collaborations to uplift healthcare standards across West Pokot County.
