In Northern Kenya, where road construction and maintenance are often male-dominated, one woman is breaking the mold.

Fatuma Lenguro, a contractor from Marsabit County, is redefining what leadership looks like on the Marsabit–Isiolo Highway — one of the most scenic and strategic roads in the north. Wearing her helmet and high-visibility vest, Fatuma leads her team in maintaining the highway that connects people, trade, and opportunity across the region.

Beyond keeping the road in shape, she also sensitizes communities along the route on the importance of protecting road signs and public infrastructure reminding everyone that progress depends on shared responsibility.
