Seventy-three community members gathered in Olposimoru Town for a cross-border dialogue aimed at addressing resource-related tensions and strengthening peaceful relations among neighbouring communities.

The meeting was organised under the European Union-funded PLACE programme, implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in collaboration with Narok County and Candle of Hope Foundation.
According to FAO Kenya, the forum provided a platform for participants to discuss shared challenges, identify factors that support peace and explore sustainable approaches to resolving conflict.
Discussions focused on managing shared natural resources, fostering mutual understanding and strengthening cooperation across borders. Participants exchanged views on how neighbouring communities could address tensions through dialogue and collaborative approaches.
The engagement sought to address intra-cluster resource-related tensions while encouraging communities to consider their shared interests. It brought community perspectives into discussions on both the challenges affecting relations and the opportunities for peaceful coexistence.
A central focus was the relationship between natural resource management and community cooperation. Participants considered how shared resources could be managed alongside efforts to build understanding and resolve disagreements peacefully.
The forum also explored peace drivers—the relationships, practices and conditions that help communities maintain peaceful relations. This placed attention on strengthening existing foundations for cooperation as well as addressing sources of tension.
Sustainable conflict resolution mechanisms formed another key part of the discussions. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange ideas on approaches that could help communities manage disputes and maintain engagement over time.
The collaboration between FAO, Narok County and Candle of Hope Foundation brought programme partners and community members together around a common objective: improving relations through open discussion of shared concerns.
Through the PLACE programme, the Olposimoru dialogue contributes to efforts to strengthen cooperation and support peaceful approaches to managing natural resources among neighbouring communities.
